ASWARA DANCE COMPANY
First formed in 1994, as a semi–professional collective of lecturers and outstanding students of ASWARA, it was established to further promote local performances and champion a Malaysian identity in traditional and contemporary dance. In 2011, it received a tremendous boost with the injection of funds from the SIME DARBY FOUNDATION that has enabled the full-time professional company to be established for outstanding graduates. ASWARA Dance Company is a shining example of Malaysia’s plurality embodied in its repertoire. The company has embarked on a nationwide tour with the project “Connecting Communities”.
