Finally, it looks like Facebook has decided to do something about fake profiles and accounts within its social network, Facebook recently announced a new Verified Pages and Profile feature, to help people find authentic accounts of celebrities and other high-profile individuals and businesses on Facebook.

When you visit an official page, a small, blue check mark will be there to indicate that it’s legitimate; the check mark will show up in timelines, search results and everywhere else on Facebook. Verified Pages applies for celebrities, journalists, government, popular brands and such, and will be rolled out to profiles as well.

I hope this will put an end to pages claiming to give away free stuffs when you like, share and comment on a post, stating the color you want – it certainly is not fun seeing your Facebook wall flooded with such spams.
